Story & Experience

I have never visited Sahli on a Saturday, but I invited my friend Cristina to experience this gem of a preserve for us to create an Act of Beauty. There were kids, adults, fisher people, so many people I almost couldn’t notice the trees, plants, stones, ducks, birds and more. And then we each chose a favorite place to commune with. The sounds fell away, all I noticed was the breeze, the birds, the light, the trickling waterfall.

Why this Place?
Sahli Preserve
Sahli Preserve is 90 acres of thick pine forest floor, thick grapevines, ponds, waterfall, myriad wildlife – all tucked between car dealerships, Tractor Supply and Walmart! For years I avoided that corridor of road, and then was lured by forget-me-knots in spring, icicles in winter and other riches I came to know well with daily visits. I chose Sahli just because it is radical beauty in the midst of development.
Act of Beauty
Our Act of Beauty was one of patience and reverence this year, of total immersion into the forest, of leaving no trace other than our awe.
