Story & Experience
We were in Modoc National Forest, next to Lava Beds National Monument. This is one of my base camps of many years. I was there with my base camp support, we were marking the closure of our many years of working together, as I have laid down the mantel of guide, teacher, etc. of the quest ceremony after 34 years, and now turning 80. In September of 2020 there was a huge fire that burned more than 31,000 acres surrounding our base camp. We did ceremony for some of the trees who are still alive and struggling with the effects of the fire. We were there for 3 days, in deep silence and stillness of a place we have loved and which has held us for years.
