Story & Experience

Murphy

Ann and I attach a picture of the Radical Joy bird that we built in Ticknock Woods in the Dublin Mountains in Dublin Ireland. Recently a combination of dry weather and winds have resulted in gorse fires sweeping through this area which have burnt parts of the mountain vegetation and nesting birds in the gorse.

Today we spent time on this burnt land as part of this global event. We were struck by how particularly relevant it is that we build the bird image as we remembered all the little new born birds that perished in the gorse fires. We both felt quite helpless as we watched the fire brigade trucks drive by our home to the mountains. Through this event we felt that even though we could not stop the fire happening we have been able to spend time there acknowledging the loss of those little beings… We are delighted to play our small part of this global event and we look forward to reading about the other events around the world.
