Here are my images from the event.
The first bird was made mostly of plastic bottle tops I found on the beach. You can see that it is laying on a lot of shells because this beach was once a native american shell midden. Hence the irony of layering ancient and modern refuse. I also placed a carcass of a bird by it because you can find many dead birds on this beach. I don’t know the cause of their deaths.
The second bird is made of sharp rusted unidentified metal pieces. The beach is currently strewn with these. I’ve been going to this beach for several years and only in the past couple of months have these appeared from under the sand. They’re very sharp and dangerous. This area was used as a dumping ground for chemical and other waste for decades.
It was really an honor to be a part of this wonderful event,
