Story & Experience

I did a ritual for the ocean last Saturday. Unfortunately, true to Mercury retrograde, we all forgot cameras and phones, and the one phone that was there had a full picture memory. There were 7 of us: my shamanic teacher, fellow shamanic students and friends, and we went to one of the beaches at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, MA.
We called in the spirit of Mother Ocean to hear our prayers and receive our offerings. We each told her what she means to us and made an offering of flowers, rocks, or other special objects. We read a prayer for healing the ocean and the waters. We made an awesome RadJoy bird, I am so sorry we don’t have a picture. One of the participants is an artist and she traced the bird in the sand, then we outlined and filled it in in places with seaweed, rocks, and a few other things.
We did the Ocean Motion, which is sung to the tune of the Hokey Pokey, which was really fun. We stuck our feet and hands in the water and turned around, just like the song says. And lastly we thanked the spirit of the Ocean for being there to hear and receive us. Everyone enjoyed it and felt it was deep and meaningful, and was grateful for the opportunity to do this.
