Story & Experience

Nebeker Heart

This was a block in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City where a fight between the community and developers had raged for quite some time. They tore down the old one-story storefront buildings and then the empty lot sat there for a few years. The community wanted a building height limit and the developer wanted a higher building. For me it was a reminder of how the open space of earth is there, under all our cities and cement and asphalt. Now Sugarhouse is a booming hot area and quickly getting dense and super hip. Very tall buildings are going up everywhere . . . including on that lot.
