Story & Experience

We had five participants. Three adults, Marjie, Michelle, and Anne, Michelle’s 22 month old son Lorenzo and my two year old lab mix, Sunshine.
We had a small ritual where we planted lettuce and spinach seeds in the shape of the radical joy bird near where Michelle’s former garden had been. It was a lovely organic garden of native plants, vegetables, and fruit. It was paved over to provide parking spaces to be rented to doctors at the nearby Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. This is an urban neighborhood and green spaces of any kind are rare. We mourned for the loss of one and planted seeds in the hope of another green space in the future. We had hoped to take pictures but it didn’t happen. Lorenzo was very busy exploring and we were enjoying watching him.
