Story & Experience

Quiseng

If a barn burns down, people used to show up on their own accord to work together to repair it. I thought about that in relation to one of my situations. About two weeks ago on a strong windy day, my geodesic dome nursery was blown across the yard and got stuck in some of the forest trees. I asked some of my “friends” to help me to put it back together, but nobody showed up. Well, it’s still in the trees and I will take it apart myself, and try to reassemble it slowly.

So I started with the practice there, it seemed appropriate with the frustrations I was feeling to start with myself, and my own front yard. I used the knocked down and slug-eaten tomatoes from the destroyed nursery, and the invasive ginger that is starting to take over the garden beds. I did enjoy the practice and it offered me a little insight. That something joyful can be created out of the damaged and perceived threats to my happiness and health, and how personally important it is to offer attention to the hard times I experience as I live day to day.
