Story & Experience

We cleaned the streets around a bomb crater site. Our Global Earth Exchange solidarity action can be found in the second video clip, but watching both videos will provide a clearer context :

  1. Glass Shattering Violence in Afghanistan

On 18th June, 2013, at about 9.00 a.m. ,a bomb exploded near the Afghan Peace Volunteer ( APV ) Community Home at Pul-e-Surkh in Kabul, killing at least 3 persons and injuring 30. The glass window panes of our house were shattered. In the video, the APVs reflect on this incident.

  1. In Afghanistan, around a bomb crater, we cleaned & took a stand

We didn’t intend to go to the bomb site. But as we had already planned a day to clean the neighborhood streets, it became quite natural to clean around that area and along the street. We recognize the pain caused by the bombing, both the loss of lives and injuries, and also the damage to the environment. We ask for healing. We want the place to be healed.

Many thanks,

Hakim and the Afghan Peace Volunteers
