Story & Experience

This year my global earth exchange event happened today, quietly…on my own, at the beach…a RadJoy bird made of shells and seaweed, surrounded by sand spirals and sand birds heading out into 8 directions to connect with others over the world, so it was a bit of space and time travel to connect with what others had done on Saturday . In my heart this year was both the area where I live and the community building we are doing here, including environmentally focused work. I could look across at where we worked last year from where I was this year. Also on my heart is the Karoo, a landscape where fracking is due to begin in SA despite enormous amounts of activism. There were no photos this year…and in the end, just me and the mountains and the sea and the sand…my prayers, my remembering, my wishes for beauty in this crazy beautiful world.
Another friend of mine, Kerry, did something on her own too in her garden on Saturday…
I didn’t manage to gather people this year or create an event like last year…on Saturday we had a huge local community event. I had tried and had hoped to weave it into the day somehow…but it wasn’t to be this year.
