An Ozark Creek in Southern Missouri

Story & Experience

My exchange on the day was solitary and at a still-necessary distance in the end but it felt important, simple and beautiful all the same. Others knew of it. And I feel certain the place knows. I created this image from one taken on an early clandestine visit when we saw that oat seed had been scattered on the torn ground. ( An egg-shaped protective water bubble with a feather-like oak leaf and seeds of renewal.) The seeds have now sprouted and native seeds and plants have been added. The long scar of the logging road that crosses this secluded Ozark creek will hopefully, in a year or two, be a ribbon of grasses and flowers attracting many radical joy birds!
