January 10, 2021

On January 11, 2020 a 61-year-old man from Wuhan, China became the first reported casualty of coronavirus. Within one year this lethal disease had infected more than 80 million people worldwide and killed more than 2 million.

Jobs, school, housing, social gatherings, friendships and romances—it all seemed to be at risk in some way.

Radical Joy for Hard Times realized that the collective trauma and grief we were all suffering needed to be acknowledged… shared… and comforted.

Our GLOBAL DAY OF MOURNING focused on:

  • Admitting our grief, so that we could find new energy for coping and creating solutions,
  • Sharing our stories with others, online or safely distancing,
  • Understanding that we are not alone.
  • Coming together with others around the world, recognizing that, though the pandemic has affected each of us in different ways, we all experience sorrow and concern.
