Why this Place?
Mount Coonowrin
Mount Coonowrin is part of a beautiful collection of volcanic mountains. He is part of a dreaming story about family responsibility.
The forests surrounding him have been taken away in the last few centuries for agriculture and a quarry for stone.
A lot of stone has already been taken away, and the mining companies are pushing for an expansion and deepening of the mine on this sacred site.
Act of Beauty
I had a go at drawing this view with the electricity pole and wire where birds perched to spot insects coming up the hill, and then the birds swoop down to catch them. They sit on the fence posts to eat their catch.
