For Wingello State Forest

Carnahan

Our Global Earth (Gift) Exchange 2021 was for logged pine plantation at Wingello State Forest in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. It was hard and painful. The forest was burnt in our Summer 2019/20 wildfires. After the fires we put in a wildlife camera to wath the recovery. Wombats and kangaroos returned. Native paper daisies created a natural wall of yellow beauty. The timber was damaged and still logged—the wombat burrows are gone. The land is now naked. On top of a stump we placed objects of beauty and “progress”.
