Story & Experience

Shared the Global Earth Exchange with the land of and old tree Friend, the 3000 year old Senator, just a few years ago stood as the oldest Bald Cypress in the World. 10 years ago this tree was burned to the ground in moments after a woman struggling with addiction smoked meth inside of the ancient tree.
I wish there were more places where the trees could live fully, even at this park the landscaping uses round up sprays and cuts the knees of the cypress roots while mowing. The park continues to be surrounded by new developments.
I found these fallen leaves and moss to create an act of beauty for this beloved community tree and for those struggling with addiction. Afterwards I sat a good long while with the sister tree a 2000 year old cypress and a group of young day care kids came to visit the trees. It was so sweet listening to their gasps and oohing and awing at the trees, even in the presence of the stump of the burned Senator tree.
