“People love trees. They are the most benevolent things in our environment. In primal ways, people relate to trees in their souls. That’s why this crime offends people so much,” said forester John Giedraitis after an ancient, beloved oak was deliberately poisoned.

How sad and outraged people rallied around that oak tree and what happened is such an inspiring and engaging story that we’re going to let the author herself tell it. Click the link find Mitsubachi’s article about the “Treaty Oak” of Austin, Texas which appeared in this week’s Anima Monday blog.
Thanks to Harriet Sams for passing along the tale of the Treaty Oak.
