Fontes Vivas – Water is Life. On June, 22 2019 we celebrate Radical Joy at our Oracle Spring in Tamera and connect it with the global Alliance of Defend the Sacred and the initiative of our region Odemira »Fontes Vivas« (Living springs). We will honor and clean in a ritual the oracle spring of Tamera, before on the next day, we will walk on a common walk with all kind of neighbours to other drinking water springs of the region, which old people still visit and care for, but which have been drying out due to the centralised water management and desertification of the region. However when the springs dry, the land will die. Let us Defend the Sacred – the sources of life.

Water is life. In Tamera we teach and learn how to restore the regional water cycles by simple technologies of water retention. These skills help to prevent desertification. And it takes communities working together: Water does not want to be kept and treated as commodity, but be used on a community base, be honoured and loved with joy and care.
